Each EZ Gate latch kit comes with all the necessary parts to install on your fence post. All you need is a drill. Instructions are included.
Gate latch installation instructions
Fence With Cross Piece
1. Using a 3/16” drill bit, predrill a hole for lag screw in the centre of the post at the same height as the bottom of the cross piece. Using a 7/16” socket or wrench, turn the lag screw into the fence post, making sure to leave a little space to allow the movement of the latch. Repeat on other side of fence post.
2. Place a nail on the gate post to keep the latch from sliding upward.
Fence With without Cross Piece
1. Using a 3/16” drill bit, predrill a hole for lag screw in the centre of the post about 9-10“ above top wire. Cut off post 6” above lag screw. Using a 7/16” socket or wrench, turn the lag screw into the fence post, making sure to leave a little space to allow the movement of the latch. Repeat on other side of fence post.
2. Place a nail or screw on the fence post to give the latch something to rest on instead of the barbed wire. This makes it easier to grab the handle.
